Burton ("Burt") A. Amernick is a Partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. He is the Washington D.C. Office's Partner-in-Charge, a member of the firm’s Management Committee and a member of the firm’s Hiring Committee.
He represents clients in a variety of areas including patent counseling and opinions, due diligence, licensing and transactions, interferences, litigation, prosecution and reissue and reexaminations in chemical matters.
Burt has lectured on intellectual property law throughout the United States, Japan and Europe. He is the course co-director and lecturer for "Patent Law for Managers, Engineers and Scientists" sponsored by The Center of Professional Advancement. He has also been an instructor with the Patent Resources Group.
Prior to entering private practice, Burt was a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office where he examined applications directed to synthetic resin compositions.
